The homemade taste of Europe, made fresh in New Zealand.

In 1999 Marcel Naenen and Inge Vercammen emigrated from Belgium to New Plymouth and started Van Dyck Fine Foods. Marcel, a very successful bakery engineer in Europe, designed the factory and baking equipment himself, including live-in accommodation! Ten years later Van Dyck Fine Foods is a very respected brand in the Food Service market supplying the hospitality sector with high quality pre-cooked Crêpes, Hotcakes, Mini Hotcakes, Capsicum & Corn Fritters and Blinis.

Marcel’s is Van Dyck’s retail brand. Many readers will be familiar with Marcel’s mouth watering pre-cooked Hotcakes and Crêpes, available from the bakery departments of Pak’n Save and New World supermarkets nationwide, mostly in a plain unbranded pack.

Until recently you could only find Marcel’s Blinis in the freezer compartment at a small number of supermarkets and specialty food stores. This month Marcel’s Blinis have been relaunched, and repackaged in a gorgeous bright red pack, so easy to spot in the freezer, and for the first time will be widely available at supermarkets and specialty food stores nationwide.

Blinis originated in Russia. They look and taste like a small plain pikelet. Blinis are readymade, bite-sized and simply waiting to be dressed for pre-dinner nibbles, cocktail parties, lunches and other occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries and weddings. Serving suggestions include, quick easy favourites such as sour cream with smoked salmon, capers and dill. Serve topped with tuna, caviar, hummus, pâté, pesto, specialty cheeses or any other topping of your choice. Conveniently snap frozen in a free-flow pack of 48, by the time you have assembled them, they are pleasantly chilled and ready to serve. Much more attractive and better tasting than a boring old cracker!

Marcel’s Blinis contain no preservatives or artificial colours and are made of the best quality ingredients. Marcel’s Blinis are available in the frozen dessert section of participating supermarkets and specialty food stores, nationwide.
